Tasting Note:
Tignanello is a red wine produced only from the vineyard of the same name, from a parcel of approximately 140 acres (57 hectares) with limestone-rich soils, and from a parcel facing southwest at an altitude of 1,150-1,325 feet (350-400 meters) above sea level on the Tignanello estate. Made primarily from Sangiovese and a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, Tignanello was subjected to an additional 12 months of aging in the bottle before release. Aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels for 14-16 months, 14% alcohol by volume. Subject to IGT Toscana classification. Ruby red color. The nose has aromas of vanilla, chocolate, coconut, and oak. Coffee, caramel, and bitter chocolate notes dominate on the palate. A full-bodied, intense-tannined, lively red wine. A cellar wine suitable for aging.
